Jen will be creating a series of works on paper at Beit Harishonim in Emek Hefer. This is a building built by Antoine Bishara Tayan in the 1880's, a Christian businessman from Jaffa. It was then taken over by the local Bedouin community and in the 1930's was sold by auction to KKL-JNF. Over the years the buildings were used for a variety of uses, ranging from artists studios, to cultural centers, restaurants, etc.
All run and operated by the local council of Emek Hefer.

Jen will be teaching a One-Week Intensive Class from September 5th - 10th 2022 at the Corning Museum of Glass. This class titled Alternative Approaches to Printmaking and Glass explores innovative approaches combining printmaking onto kiln formed glass. Topics include relief carving, alternative photographic techniques, engraving with a laser engraver, and finishing work.

In the workshop, students explore innovative approaches screen printing and kiln formed glass through hands-on experimentation and demonstration. 2022 Faculty Summer Research Award for Tenure/ Tenure-Track Faculty
​
Jen is a the recipient of a 2022 Faculty Summer Research Award for Tenure/ Tenure-Track Faculty. This grant will allow the funding in which to create a body of new image-based sculptures combining glass and bronze. The grant will allow Jen to allow for the purchasing of raw materials, equipment, travel accommodations for an upcoming series of exhibitions, artist lectures as well as to conduct master glass courses at the Corning Museum of Glass.

This body of work is a mix of bronze and glass sculptures emulating the experience of walking into a forgotten garden with a collection of object and wall hanging which are left behind from someone’s life.

Pew Charitable Grant
Jen Blazina has been nominated for a PEW Charitable Trust Grant in the field of crafts and fine arts. The Fellowships program, which awards grants annually to regional artists working in all disciplines, is among the most highly regarded of its kind in the country. At $75,000 for each Fellow, these unrestricted grants afford our region’s most talented practitioners valuable time and substantial resources to focus on artistic exploration and professional development.
